A water leak occurred in Medellin in the Colanta – Castilla pipeline on the morning of Saturday, April 27th, causing flooding and traffic disruptions in the Caribe neighborhood of Medellín. The leak results in a loss of valuable drinking water.
The Public Utilities Company of Medellín (EPM) reported that personnel are on-site working to isolate and control the leak. The company also clarified that a change in water color in some areas of the Aburrá Valley is due to low levels in the Riogrande II reservoir. This change requires water to be drawn from deeper levels where there are higher concentrations of color-causing substances. EPM assures residents that the water remains safe for consumption.
