Medellin, a city renowned for its innovative approaches to urban challenges, has made a significant stride in its commitment to improving air quality. This year, 50 new companies have joined the city’s “Pacto por la Calidad del Aire” (Pact for Air Quality), bringing the total to 275 organizations dedicated to this cause.
The pact, initiated by the city’s Secretaría de Medio Ambiente (Secretary of Environment), is a voluntary agreement among public and private entities. It aims to implement best practices to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants. The inclusion of these new companies marks a milestone in Medellin’s journey towards environmental sustainability.Under the pact, the companies commit to various initiatives, including sustainable business mobility plans, teleworking, flexible working hours, and the use of emission monitoring tools. This year, the pact recognized 37 companies for their outstanding contributions to improving the city’s air quality.
