Google Colombia has launched 12,500 scholarships for its Career Certificates program, aimed at encouraging education in high-demand digital skills. The scholarships will particularly target youth without access to professional degrees, low-income women, and members of ethnic communities.
The Google Career Certificates program, which takes 4-6 months to complete, offers certification in four areas: Data Analysis, Project Management, User Experience (UX) Design, and IT Support, with courses delivered in Spanish. The program has already positively impacted over 80% of its 21,500 Latin American graduates, according to Google.
To ensure the scholarships benefit those most in need, Google’s Crece con Google initiative will collaborate with local social organization, Colnodo. This will ensure that half of the scholarships will be awarded to low-income women, and 10% will go to people from various ethnic communities in the country, including Afro-Colombians, indigenous, Rom, and Palenque.
How to apply
In order to be eligible, applicants must be adults and possess some level of secondary education, even if not fully completed.
