Bogota, is set to begin water rationing starting April 11 due to critically low reservoir levels exacerbated by the El Niño phenomenon. The city will experience 24-hour water cuts every 10 days, affecting various sectors divided according to the aqueduct networks.
This measure, affecting about 10 million people, aimed at reducing water consumption to 15 cubic meters per second, is necessary to conserve dwindling water reserves, particularly in the Chingaza reservoir which supplies 70% of the city. The Mayor’s Office urges residents to adapt their water usage habits to mitigate the impact.
