As the Bogota International Book Fair (FILBO) nears its end, there are clear indications of which books are proving to be the most popular among attendees. Here’s a look at the top 10 best-selling books so far, with Colombian authors leading the pack.
- Los Vagabundos de Dios (The Vagabonds of God) by Mario Mendoza: This latest work by the Colombian author has taken the top spot at Editorial Planeta, selling over 5,500 copies. Inspired by Mendoza’s experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, the book has been a hit with readers.
- En agosto nos vemos (See You in August) by Gabriel García Márquez: This posthumous work by the Nobel laureate has sold close to 5,000 copies at FILBO. Published in March, the book has become an instant bestseller and can be found for $59,000.
- El Fabricante de lágrimas (The Tear Maker) by Erin Doom: This Italian novel, already a bestseller, is now set to be adapted into a Netflix film. The book has sold over 1,300 copies at FILBO.
- El infinito en un junco (The Infinite in a Reed) by Irene Vallejo: This book by the Spanish writer, a guest at FILBO’s inauguration, has sold 1,175 copies.
- Terapia para llevar (Take-Away Therapy) by psychologist Ana Pérez: This self-help book has sold over 1,100 copies.
- Satanás (Satan) by Mario Mendoza: Another popular work by Mendoza, this book, winner of the 2002 Biblioteca Breve Prize, has sold well at FILBO, priced at $59,000.
- Recupera tu mente, reconquista tu vida (Recover Your Mind, Reclaim Your Life) by Marian Rojas Estapé: This new release by the Spanish psychologist has been a hit with readers, selling well at the Planeta stand.
